To what extent has their culture influenced modern day society?

  • Maori tribes have gotten together with modern day people and through their culture have an actually productive relationship. Modern day New Zealanders do the Haka when watching Rugby, but even more impressive is that the government has created tourism packages for people to experience the Maori culture. The Maori have agreed to this so there can be a more prosperous future for their youth and the tribe can continue

  • Maori Cultural Travel Packets take you through the woods of where the tribe lives with the tour guide being a Maori, telling the legendary stories that bring the forest to life and closer to the tourists. Not only that but the Maori tour guide takes them to the Living Thermal Villages where tourists can feel what it is like to live like a Maori next to incredible nature. There are many other places the Maori guides take you which is explained in the link below.

  • The Maori's warrior like yet openness (over the years) to strangers has allowed the two parties (Maori and New Zealand Government) to work together in a mutual beneficial way. The peace between the two allows the Maori people to continue to live knowing there is peace for their children. The New Zealand Government gets revenue from the tourism packages for people to visit the Maori population and live like the tribe does. The fact the Maori tribe has been able to do this, unlike many other tribes, in creating beneficial relationships with modern day people, shows how their culture has influenced the modern day world as they are now incorporating indigenous knowledge and indigenous traveling to any travel guide to New Zealand
